Modern artists use have used various techniques to illustrate the movement and joy of the dance.

Dancing the New Year In Tim Cockburn is an artist and printmaker who lives and works in the harbour town of Pittenweem in Fife. Born in Sheffield in 1955, he trained at Edinburgh College of Art. Since 1994 he has lived In Pittenweem, where he produces detailed and lively paintings populated by a large cast of people performing the many rituals of contemporary life. He is particularly well known for his depictions of Scottish Country dance.
Fiona's Highland Fling By artist Anita Inverarity, this Scottish artist works in traditional ink mediums with an illustrative style. Influences include Myth & Legend, Pop Surrealism and the Natural World.	Highland Dancer (Mosaic) Anja Hertle (Mosaic Artist) - Using recycled dishes, tiles and coloured glass as well as interesting found objects like old twisted forks, shiny beads and buttons, mosaic artist Anja Hertle painstakingly assembles them into stunning three-dimensional art pieces. Born in Germany, Anja now resides with her husband, two kids and a golden retriever in Ontario, Canada.	Highland Dancer Guy Radcliff is a fine artist who enjoys painting well drawn, detailed, colorful landscapes in gouache paint with an emphasis on wetlands wildlife and conservation.

Scottish Country Dancing Joyce Grubb graduated from Dundee College of Art in the 50's. She taught in several schools in Dundee and in Kirriemuir, Angus where she eventually became an assistant rector at Websters High School. Although now retired, she continues to paint.

She trained in illustration at Liverpool School of Art and the Wimbledon School of Art in the 1950's, and this included plenty of life drawing. She subsequently spent many years landscape painting on Vancouver Island and in the Scottish Highlands. Then in the 1980's, she entered and won a national cartoon competition run by the Scottish Field; and this sparked off a career in cartooning. Scottish Dance Series Number Two Michelle Lake - Part of the series done for the Lloydminster Cross Border Scottish Dancers.	Highland Dancer John Larriva, John's been a painter for over 15 years. He works in oil paint, and his subjects include people, animals, and landscapes. He has been known to venture into surrealism.	Scottish Dancing Louise Braithwaite is based in Hampshire, England. Over the last nine years she has developed a style of painting which is vibrant and expressive yet based on her background in graphic illustration. Her paintings are predominately figurative and painted in oils on board.
Highland Fling Anna Pugh is one of England's leading folk artists. Understandably, her work has proved very popular with American collectors, who have a much longer tradition of appreciating this style, but the British demand is increasing at a rate that all but outstrips her output. She exhibits exclusively at Lucy B. Campbell, and her latest works are posted to this site, as soon as possible, to allow them to be viewed at leisure by her international following.
