Janet was an arts and crafts teacher for many years before deciding to focus on developing her own work. Now having spent a number of years studying with the Open College of the Arts and Leith School of At, she is a full time artist.
Her main theme is Scottish dancers. Everybody loves a ceilidh, and Janet uses mixed media and vibrant color to capture both the unique look of the tartan and the joyful, exuberant movement of the dancing.
Tim Cockburn is an artist and printmaker who lives and works in the harbour town of Pittenweem in Fife. Born in Sheffield in 1955, he trained at Edinburgh College of Art. An award from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation enabled him to paint in Tuscany and Umbria. He later travelled to South India and Sri Lanka, and worked at the Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop. Since 1994 he has lived In Pittenweem, where he produces detailed and lively paintings populated by a large cast of people performing the many rituals of contemporary life. He is particularly well known for his depictions of Scottish Country dance.
